Sugar formed in late 1991 when Bob Mould recruited bassist David Barbe and drummer Malcolm Travis. The trio debuted live at Athens, GA’s 40 Watt Club. Their debut album, *Copper Blue*, was named NME’s 1992 Album of the Year and included the MTV favorite “If I Can’t Change Your Mind.” The 1993 mini-album *Beaster* reached #3 on the UK Albums Chart, while 1994’s *File Under: Easy Listening* hit the UK top 10 and Billboard 200.
