Mike D, born Mike Diamond, grew up on Manhattan's Upper West Side, stealing 7-inch records by The Jackson Five and The Beatles from his brothers before buying Steve Miller's Fly Like An Eagle and learning drums. He discovered punk rock, then rap, then reggae, each time starting over.
