I&#39;ve been wondering why his moves are so mesmerizing and then I discovered from the interview that he was a professional ballet dancer. Amazing. What a talented man.

I just so happen to have the privilege of knowing this man (he’s the brother of one of my best friends). I can assure you all that he is one of the best people I know. Amazingly kind, smart and talented.

That dance scene in the barn is literally one of the coolest things I’ve ever seen.

I´m really connecting with this song. Transports me right back to when I was a young closeted gay teen in a sexual ”relationship” with my best friend at that time that was straight. For him it was just some sexual experimentation, for me it was much more: he was my first love. It all ended when he started dating and having sex with girls leaving me heartbroken. Even now, in my 30s, I can still look back at that time and somewhat romanticize it when I´m being nostalgic and in a lonely period. So many lines in this song describe exactly what we had perfectly.

The genre-bending this guy does is one of a kind. Constant classic country undertones, then I hear Depeche Mode, k.d. lang and Roy Orbison. Dude WTF.

I hate that people call them assless chaps. Assed chaps are just fucking pants.

A lot of chaps, especially back in the day, were made of thick cow hide for durability and protection. The issue is that it doesn’t flex comfortably, so cutting out the seat-crotch region made it to where they could wear chaps, ride horses, and work with less discomfort. That’s also why some people later decided to cut the backs out entirely and go with chaps in the front, adjustable-locking straps in the back.

As a cowgirl, I feel apt to speak on this - I&#39;d hate sitting on a saddle with a thick, stiff layer of cow hide beneath my rear. The front is for protection riding through briars and the back is open so as we don&#39;t get blisters on our rear

I like how everyone is talking about the assless part of chaps but literally no one ever talks about the tassels which in combination is what makes chaps so flaming

There actually is a ‘straight’ reason why chaps look like this. The leather around the legs are to shield riders denim from wearing down too quickly when riding a horse. Horse hair is almost like sandpaper, and ‘shreads’ denim over time. The leather leg covers also came in handy as a work apron when dealing with smaller livestock. As for the reasons why the buttock and the groin areas were left uncovered; that has to do with mobility of the wearer. This position of the body has to be able to move freely. Riders have to swing their legs around to mount, ride, and dismount a horse. The hip joints and lower spine is needed to do this action, thus no leather on these areas needed. Typically riders use saddles, so the open position of chaps are okay for denim to show. Safety and utility are why chaps look like this…or it’s whatever Orville Peck said. i’ve always been hesitant to embrace being from the south as there are such... heavily religious and intolerant tones, especially as a gay trans man. thank you so much for showing that i am allowed to be a part of this, not despite being lgbt, but embracing and accepting both parts. i wish you and your career all the best!

it is SO freeing to see such STRONG LGBT overtones in stuff like this. I loved your music when i found it, but when i dug deeper i was so, so happy! being someone whos trans n gay in the south is hard, it&#39;s hard to align yourself with these events and aesthetic without feeling inherently threatened or like you have to shed the truth of being trans or gay etc etc. you make it look easy, orville!
