Creating original songs can be one of the most enjoyable and rewarding experiences for musicians. School of Rock’s Songwriting Program teaches the fundamentals of songwriting, arrangement and music theory, and helps students compose original works. Students have one weekly private lesson on an instrument of their choice where they learn concepts, technique and theory. These principles are then applied in weekly group lessons where students work together on songwriting exercises and lyrical workshops. Every few months, Songwriting Program students take the stage to perform or band together to record their original songs.

At School of Rock, learning how your instrument fits into a song is an important part of our educational Method™. How does a bass guitar “lock-in” with a drum beat? How does a guitar solo fit over a chord progression? With some lessons being held online and group gatherings limited, School of Rock answers these questions using online audio and video recording. Students enrolled in our online lessons program are grouped into bands and then individually record their piece of a song. Our expert instructors compile the band members' individual parts to create a complete song! This process reinforces the skills needed for students to perform with other musicians.

Creating original songs can be one of the most enjoyable and rewarding experiences for musicians. School of Rock’s Songwriting Program teaches the fundamentals of songwriting, arrangement and music theory, and helps students compose original works.  Students have one weekly private lesson on an instrument of their choice where they learn concepts, technique and theory. These principles are then applied in weekly group lessons where students work together on songwriting exercises and lyrical workshops.
