Rene Immortal&#39;s story begins in the heart of Africa’s golden era of conscious rap—the mid-1990s, when hip hop was more than music; it was a movement. In 1995, as a young visionary in The Gambia, Rene co-founded the trailblazing pan African hip hop group Brainstorm Kliq—a lyrical force rooted in revolution, unity, and black consciousness. The group quickly carved a name for itself in the underground rap circuits of West Africa, known for their bold fusion of local rhythms with gritty East Coast-style lyricism and themes of African identity, struggle, and self-determination.
Driven by a hunger to elevate his craft and gain industry insight, Rene made a strategic move to South Africa in the early 2000s. There, he immersed himself in music business management studies, sharpening not only his art but also his understanding of the music industry’s inner workings. This period was transformative—Rene engaged with music organizations across the continent, collaborating on initiatives that empowered young African artists and promoted indigenous soundscapes in modern formats.

Over the years, Rene became both a student and a teacher—learning from legends, mentoring rising voices, and contributing behind the scenes to the evolving African music scene. But even as the industry changed, the fire to speak truth through rhythm never left him.
