Public Enemy

Public Enemy revolutionized hip-hop, expanding its sonic vocabulary and social impact. Formed in 1985 by Chuck D, the group featured Flavor Flav as comic foil and the Bomb Squad’s dense productions. Their classic albums include 1988’s It Takes a Nation of Millions to Hold Us Back and 1990’s Fear of a Black Planet. They were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2013. Despite controversies, they continued evolving, scoring a 2007 UK hit with “Harder Than You Think.”
